Improvement Measures of Gear Shaft Machining Process

Pulished on Sep. 29, 2020

Problems in traditional gear shaft machining

According to investigation and research, most of the domestically processed gear shafts produced a lot of noise pollution during the installation and use process, which caused a certain degree of damage to the operators. After disassembling the Large Gear Shaft for measurement, a series of problems were found :

①Observing the phenomenon of chatter marks

②The roughness of the gear shaft surface is very large, causing noise pollution

③The gear machining accuracy is not accurate enough

How to improve the processing technology of gear shaft

The method to improve the processing technology of gear shafts is mainly to comprehensively improve the processing technology of gear shafts from the aspects of gear shaft materials, fixtures, gear hobbing and selection of reasonable cutting fluids:

Gear Shaft

Gear Shaft

1. Gear shaft material

For some traditional mechanical processing gear shaft materials, 45 steel in high-quality carbon structural steel, 40Cr, 20CrMnTi in alloy steel, etc. are usually selected. The texture of these materials is relatively good, and the service life is relatively long.

2. Fixture

In general, the installation accuracy of the fixture is related to the accuracy of the Gear Shaft. It plays an important role in the gear hobbing process.

(1) Mount the gear shaft on the hobbing machine. When installing the gear shaft, check the error between the top circle line of the gear and the vertical parallel line of the tool post. Usually a dial gauge is used to detect the 90 degree direction; for the radial runout of the addendum circle and the reference journal, the micrometer is used. Table to check.

(2) Mount the tooth blank on the hobbing machine. First of all, the oil stains and dirt on the parts should be cleaned before installing the clamping tooth blank. In order to ensure the accuracy of the workpiece clamping, the reference surface of the workpiece should be downward. When combined with the supporting surface, no paper or copper should be used in the middle. Advance payment: When clamping the compacted tooth blank, the pressing surface should pass through the supporting surface instead of hanging on the supporting surface. Use proper pressing force to avoid deformation of the workpiece during pressing.

(3) Suitable hob holder. When the installation angle of the tool post is exactly equal to the helix angle of the hob, only straight cylindrical gears are processed.

3. Choose a reasonable cutting fluid

Each gear shaft material is different, and the cutting fluid required is also different. The cutting fluid has its own advantages. For example, for the gear shaft of 40 chromium, a composite cutting fluid should be used. It mainly has the following functions:

① The cutting fluid can wash away the debris and other dirt in time, so as to avoid the phenomenon of splashing the operator or scratching the machined surface when the debris and dirt are not treated in time.

② Increasing the flow of clean cutting fluid can make the machined tooth surface smooth and reduce the roughness of the tooth surface, thereby reducing noise

③In the engineering of gear shaft hobbing, by pouring cutting fluid during cutting, the hob can work at a certain constant temperature under the action of the cutting fluid, avoiding the phenomenon of rapid cold and rapid heating of the hob, because the cutting fluid has lubrication And the role of cooling.

The Gear Shaft Supplier concluded that when processing gear shafts, it is necessary to clarify the position and function of each part in the product, understand each technology, and find the best technical method in combination with the actual situation, so that the processing technology of the gear shaft Use the most optimized process measures in the process to ensure the processing quality of the gear shaft, prolong the service life of the gear shaft, save resources, and promote social and economic development.
